Sew up your Danika Bag with water proof or water resistant canvas, faux leather/vinyl, cork, interfaced Quilting Cotton, or other materials. Make it even more unique by choosing which parts of your Danika Bag will be made with your Accent materials. The Danika Bag has two large Zipper pouches separated by a centre magnetic snap pouch. Inside the magnetic snap pouch there are options for two Zipper overlay pockets and two additional interior pleated slip pockets. Do you want the Decorative Straps, or a great panel or print? Do you want Handles for a quick grab or an Adjustable Shoulder Strap, or both?
This is an Adventurous Beginner/Intermediate pattern. Finished size of approximately 25.4 cm wide x 7.6 cm deep x 30.4 cm at tallest point OR 10” wide x 3” deep x 12” at tallest point.
I sew my Danika Bags on any of my vintage Singers, 421G or 500, or my Janome HD3000 or MC8200QCP, both domestic sewing machines, not industrials. I try to make patterns and products that don’t require an industrial machine. I recommend choosing medium-weight materials for the Exterior and lighter weight materials for the Interior. Heavyweight materials might be difficult to sew in the tight areas and difficult to turn.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:
- Exterior materials - 18” x 26” for two exteriors, base, 2 gusset sides, 2 Zipper overlays, strap ends, and all tabs. Suggested: medium-weight faux leather/vinyl or cork. Waterproof or water resistant canvas may be used but you will still need raw edge material for the Zipper overlays, strap ends, and all tabs, and you might need to add a heavyweight stabilizer. Heavyweight materials might be difficult to sew in the tight areas and difficult to turn.
- A panel can be used for the two exteriors, just as long as the focal point is less than 16.5 cm or 6 1/2” tall, 22.8 cm or 9” wide at the bottom, tapering to 7.6 cm or 3” wide at the top.
- Interior materials - 18” x 44” for two interiors, base, 2 gusset sides, decorative straps, short handles, and adjustable strap. Suggested: lightweight faux leather/vinyl or cork. Waterproof or water resistant canvas may be used but you will need raw edge material for the decorative straps, short handle, and adjustable strap. You might need to use a heavyweight stabilizer to reinforce it.
- Lining - 1 metre or 1 yard. Suggested: interfaced Quilting Cotton, lightweight waterproof or water resistant canvas.
- For interfacing Lining - 1 metre or 1 yard. Suggested: lightweight woven interfacing: Pellon SF101 Shape Flex, Vlieseline G700, Pellon Decovil Light, or EB Fuse Light.
- OPTIONAL: For Strap Anchors, Strap, and Handles, and reinforcing Rivets or Chicago Screws - 0.5 metre or 1/2 yard. Suggested: heavyweight stabilizer, like Pellon Decovil Heavy, Pellon Peltex.
- OPTIONAL: For Strap and Handles - 2.4 metres or 2 2/3 yards of 2.5 cm or 1” wide Webbing.
HARDWARE REQUIRED:
• Two Zippers, 24 cm or 9 1/2”, and Two Zipper pulls
• Two 2.5 cm (1”) D rings
• Two 2.5 cm (1”) Swivel hooks
• One 2.5 cm (1”) Slider
• One magnetic snap
• For Zipper Overlay Pocket(s): One or Two Zippers, 23 cm or 9”, and One or Two Zipper pulls
• For Front/Back Decorative Straps: Four 4 cm or 1 1/2” Gate Rings or Four 2.5 cm or 1” Rectangle Rings or Four 2.5 cm or 1” X or Double D rings
• For a Bag with no Decorative Straps: Four 2.5 cm or 1” Diamond or other style of Strap Anchor hardware
• For Decorative Straps, Adjustable Shoulder Strap, and Handles: up to 36 Rivets or Chicago Screws
