This is a PDF SEWING PATTERN for the Coffee © Purse. A small change purse 6” wide x 4” tall x 1” deep (15 cm wide x 10cm tall x 2.5 cm deep) with 2 inner dividers, making 3 compartments, and an outer zipper closure. Just perfect for cash, coins, cards and a driver’s license, but small enough to carry in a jacket pocket for short outings!
I sew my Coffee Purses on my Janome HD3000 and my Janome MC8200QCP; both heavy duty domestic sewing machines, not industrials. I try to make things that don’t need an industrial machine. Choose materials your machine can handle and test them out.
This is a BEGINNER sewing pattern, knowledge of zipper insertion on a curve is helpful, but there are many TIPS in the pattern to lead you to success! This pattern is a great scrap buster too!
There are 22 pages of detailed Pattern Instructions, with over 70 photos! This pattern includes both metric and imperial units. All pattern pieces are included in A4 and Letter format. MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES REQUIRED:
• OUTER LAYERS, INNER LAYERS and INNER DIVIDERS: 1/2 yard (0.5 metre) Quilting Cotton, Lightweight Cotton Twill, Lightweight Denim. The Inner Layers and Inner Dividers could be cut with a 2nd complimentary material, but are best cut from a Lightweight Quilting Cotton.
• LIGHTWEIGHT WOVEN INTERFACING: 1/2 yard (0.5 meters) Pellon SF101 Shapeflex, Vilene G700, or Vlieseline F220
• OPTIONAL STABILIZER for OUTER LAYERS: 9” x 12” (22.8 cm x 30.4 cm) piece of Pellon Peltex, Decovil Heavy, Craft Plastic, or Template Acrylic 0.020 mm.
• #5 Zipper Tape: 18” (45.7 cm) long, plus one Zipper Pull
• Thread: Use two colours of thread, one to match the Outer Layers and one to match the Inner Dividers, as some of the stitching lines will show through to the right side of your Coffee Purse.
